Home Remodeling

Remodels project by Cademartori Construction in El Dorado County

Most people put a remodel off because they have heard the stories. A kitchen torn apart for four months. A bathroom quoted at one number and billed at another. A crew that turns up when it suits them and leaves the dust for you. We remodel kitchens, bathrooms, additions and whole homes across Placerville, Cameron Park, Shingle Springs and El Dorado Hills, and we run the job so you can keep living in the house while it happens.

Kitchens and bathrooms are where most of it starts. From there it might be opening a wall between two rooms, adding a bedroom and a bath onto the end of the house, or working through the place a section at a time over a longer stretch. An addition is the same work with a foundation and a roofline to tie into what is already standing. All of it is work we take.

How long you are without a kitchen is usually the real question, and the honest answer depends on the cabinets. Stock arrives in a couple of weeks, semi custom and custom take longer, and we build the schedule around that instead of around a number that sounds better on the phone. A bathroom is a shorter job but a harder one to live through when it is the only one in the house. Those we plan tight and work straight through. We also get the long lead items ordered before demolition starts, so the room is not sitting open waiting on a vanity that was never going to arrive in time. If you are cooking out of the garage for three weeks, three weeks is what it should be.

How the Work Is Sequenced

We sequence a remodel so you keep as much of your house as possible while it runs. Demolition, framing, then the plumbing and electrical coordinated together, then cabinetry, tile and trim, with rooms handed back as they finish instead of everything at the end. Containment goes up on the first day and the site is cleaned at the end of every one. The order matters more than people expect, because a trade that arrives before the one in front of it has finished either stands around or does the job twice. Getting that sequence right is most of what separates a remodel that takes six weeks from the same remodel taking four months.

The Number You Were Quoted

The price is in writing before anything comes apart. If we open a wall and find rot, old wiring or something else that was not in the plan, you hear about it that day with a number attached and nothing moves forward until you say so. It is how what we quote stays what you pay. Older houses in the foothills hide all three of those regularly, so we would rather look behind a panel during the estimate than write a low number and come back for more later. A quote that is honest on day one is worth more to you than a quote that is cheap on day one.

What We Handle So You Do Not Have To

The part people dread about a remodel is rarely the building work. It is the managing of it, the chasing of subs, the waiting on deliveries and the cleaning up after other people. All of that sits with us from the first day to the last. Here is what the job covers, so you can see exactly where our responsibility starts and how little of it lands back on you.

  • Demolition and haul away
  • Framing changes, headers and structural work
  • Plumbing and electrical coordinated in the right order
  • Cabinets, counters, tile and flooring
  • Doors, trim and paint ready finishes
  • Dust containment and cleanup at the end of each day
  • Permits and inspections where the work needs them
  • A walkthrough together before we call it finished

The one thing we need from you is decisions on time. Cabinets, tile and fixtures chosen early are what keep a schedule honest, and a remodel that stalls almost always stalls waiting on a selection rather than on a trade. We will tell you the date each choice has to be made by, well before it becomes a problem.

Remodels Questions We Get Asked

Almost always. Containment goes up on the first day, rooms are handed back as they finish, and the site is cleaned at the end of every day. You will know which rooms are out of use and for how long before we start.
The cabinets usually decide it. Stock arrives in a couple of weeks, semi custom and custom take longer, and we build the schedule around the real lead times rather than a number that sounds better on the phone.
You hear about it that day, with a photo and a price attached. Nothing moves forward until you approve it. That is how what we quote stays what you pay even on an older house.
Yes. An addition is the same work with a foundation and a roofline to tie into what is already standing, and it is work we have done throughout El Dorado County for years.
